Dynamic founder of Wilson & Associates, Trisha Wilson has successfully expanded her interior architectural design firm worldwide.  Her years of volunteer experience demonstrate her strong commitment to community and civic service.

 Ms. Wilson has received numerous achievement awards from such organizations as the University of Texas at Austin, Chi Omega Fraternity, National Association of Women Business Owners, Harvard Business School, Working Women’s Magazine and the Greater Dallas Chamber.

She received a B.S. in interior design, School of Architecture, The University of Texas at Austin. In her spare time she collects fine art and antiques. She has traveled extensively in the United States and Africa, and has exhibited her pencil wildlife drawings in the Far East Art show in Vaalwater, South Africa.

Marcel Wanders - Designer Of The Week - May 2008 - 4th Week

grew up in Boxtel, the Netherlands, and graduated cum laude from the School of the Arts Arnhem in 1988.

Marcel Wanders’ fame started with his iconic Knotted Chair, which he produced for Droog Design in 1996. He is now ubiquitous, designing for the biggest European contemporary design manufacturers like B&B Italia, Bisazza, Poliform, Moroso, Flos, Boffi, Cappellini, Droog Design and Moooi of which he is also art director and co-owner. Founded in 2000, Moooi has grown into an internationally renowned design label. Additionally, Marcel Wanders works on architectural and interior design projects and recently turned his attention to consumer home appliances.

Marcel was the editor of the International Design Yearbook 2005. In the same year, together with Chef Peter Lute, he established the extraordinary LUTE SUITES hospitality-concept, the first “all over city suites” hotel in the world. He also designed the interior of Blits, a new restaurant in Rotterdam and the interior of the restaurant ‘Thor’ at the Hotel on Rivington in New York including bar, lounge and private club.

The latest culinary hotspot from Rotterdam-based Hotel New York Group was designed by Marcel Wanders. The restaurant is beautifully located on the banks of the river Maas. Head chef Glyn Stoker is responsible for the culinary creations. The building that dates from 1989. Marcel redesigned the interior and made Blits ‘a restaurant like a theatre’.

Hugh Hardy - Architect Of The Week - May 2008 - 3rd Week

Hugh Hardy

Born in 1932, Spain. He earned both Bachelor and Master’s degrees in architecture from Princeton University, New Jersey.

Hugh Hardy, FAIA is among the world’s most notable architects, well known for his sensitive restorations of landmark spaces. His projects are legendary,
and noted for their diversity and innovation in design.

In 1962 established Hugh Hardy & Associates. Later in 1967, he founded Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer Associates with his partners Malcolm Holzman and Norman Pfeiffer. In 2004, Hardy created H3 Hardy Collaboration Architecture, an outgrowth of Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer Associates.

In recognition of their work, HHPA has won more than 100 national design awards, including the Firm of the Year Award from the American Institute of Architects, the highest honor granted to an American architectural practice.

Griffith Observatory

Historic Renovation and Expansion
Los Angeles, California

Griffith Observatory is a key Los Angeles landmark and one of the world’s major planetaria. Pfeiffer Partners’ design plans renovate the historic building and provide a 35,000-sf underground expansion to house temporary and permanent exhibition areas, offices, classrooms, a caf gift shop and the new Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon Theater, a202-seat theater/lecture hall. The 306-seat multi-media planetarium theater is being remodeled with advanced technology for enhanced show presentations, and the popular hall of science is being refurbished and expanded with new interactive exhibits.
