Cory Grosser
Born in Rochester, NY, Cory earned a Bachelors degree in Architecture from the University of Buffalo, in NY before attending Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Ca. After graduating in 2001, with an honors degree in Industrial Design, Grosser founded Positive Industrial Design in Los Angeles and began serving clients in the furniture, product, and automotive industries.
Today, Cory Grosser is a globally successful design and creative consultant focused
on delivering award winning industrial design and brand strategies to clients
worldwide.
His award winning work for major multi-national corporations and leading European design houses, combined with his ability to use design to improve brand perception, has made Cory a popular designer.
Cory’s work has been featured in books and journals worldwide, and has won several awards including an ID Magazine Design Review Award, Best of Neocon Award, a Gold Award at IIDEX, a finalist for the Hot Seat Competition sponsored by Metropolis Magazine, and an I.Dot selection representing the best of recent Italian Design.
His work has been shown in exhibitions and museums worldwide.
Grosser currently teaches design at the prestigious Art Center College of
Design, in Pasadena CA, Also served as a judge in several design competitions.

Schmitt Architects - Architect Of The Week - March 2008 - 4th Week

Donald Schmitt
Mr.Schmitt is a senior partner of the Toronto-Diamond and Schmitt Architects Incorporated in charge, whose influence was nationally and internationally.
The firm has won more than 100 design awards, including five medals and awards to the Governor General.
Mr.Schmitt has taught at the Universities of Toronto, Texas, the State of Pennsylvania and British Columbia and Dalhousie University. Among its major achievements, include Metro-Central YMCA in Toronto, the Detroit Symphony Hall, the Center for Earth Sciences and the Centre Bahen of information technology, both at the University of Toronto, and all land and buildings of the Institute of Technology at the University of Ontario.
Mr.Schmitt is a fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, he is a member of the provincial associations of architects from Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and Nova Scotia and he is a member of the board of Directors of the Canadian Art Foundation.

Four Seasons-Toronto

The Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts occupies an entire block of the financial and theatre district in downtown Toronto. The design foundation of the auditorium is acoustically driven, built specifically for opera and completely isolated from all exterior sound and light. The intimate 2.000 -seat auditorium is modeled on the traditional European horseshoe configuration to provide intimacy, a close audience-stage relationship and to impart a sense of occasion.

Tokujin Yoshioka - Designer Of The Week - March 2008 - 3rd Week

Tokujin Yoshioka
Born in Japan in 1967, he studied at the Kuwasawa Design School, graduating in 1986. In 1992 he began work as a free-lance designer and Eight years later he established a studio in Tokyo.
His professional career is rooted in the fruitful collaboration with Shiro Kuramata and Issey Miyake. The ten-year association with the famous fashion designer has produced numerous important projects, such as the Issey Miyake and A-POC stores. The exhibitions Issey Miyake Making Things, at the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain in Paris, and A-POC Making, at the Vitra Design Museum in Berlin, are among the most brilliant examples of his work as set designer, director, and maker of installations.
Mr. Yoshioka has received a number of awards, including:
JDC Design Award of Excellence in 1997.
A&W The Coming Designer for The Future Award in 2001
Mainichi Design Award in 2001 and 2002
Design Miami / Designer of the Year 2007
His Honey-pop is part of the permanent collection at the New York MOMA, the Centro Georges Pompidou in Paris and the Vitra Design Museum in Berlin.

Tear Drop

Tear Drop is a design of “light” envisioning a teardrop in crystal.
It looks like the “light” floats in the air within the transparent glass globe, which recalls the scale of man’s “heart”.
It is not a lighting fixture, but a design of “light” itself.
