Citadellbadet

Sky and pools are mirrored in the running water. The wet glazing of the facades glitters in shades of blue, suggesting the shimmering light of the sea. This is place where the sea is very close. the 50-meter pool , dating from 1967, is one of Sweden fastest. The facilities were completely re-apparelled for the Swedish swimming championship in summer 2006, with water setting the theme of both architecture and landscaping. The sea is glimpsed through slits in the building , and the tapering media tower alludes to the citys distinctive water tower

Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen - Architect Of The Week October 2007 - 3rd Week

Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects began its creative existence with architect Jim Olson, whose work in the late 1960s explored the relationship between dwellings and the landscape they inhabit in the Northwest. Rick Sundberg joined the firm in 1975, and its commitment to urbanism and civic life became evident as they began designing and developing modern urban buildings in and around national historic districts Pike Place Market and Pioneer Square.

The addition of partners Scott Allen and Tom Kundig has taken the firm to another level of creative exploration, and grown it into an office with a national reputation. Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen`s work, including museums, academic buildings, exhibit design, interior design, places of worship and residences, often for art collectors, is now worldwide. The office combines the capacity of a large firm with the intensity of a small one. The firm?s commitment to vigorous, critical design review sessions has infused its designers with a shared sense of commitment to every project.

Chicken Point Cabin

The idea for the cabin is that of a lakeside shelter in the woods, a little box with a big window that opens to the surrounding landscape. The cabin`s big window-wall (30 feet by 20 feet) opens the entire living space to the forest and lake. Materials are low maintenance, concrete block, steel, concrete floors and plywood in keeping with the notion of a cabin, and left unfinished to naturally age and acquire a patina that fits in with the natural setting.
