Rem Koolhaas - Architect Of The Week August 2007 - 3rd Week

Dutch architect, architectural theorist and urbanist Rem Koolhaas was born in 1944. He studied scriptwriting at the Dutch Film Academy and was a journalist before studying architecture in 1968 at the Architectural Association in London, followed in 1972, by further studies at Cornell University in New York.¼br> in 1975 he founded the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), a leading international partnership practicing contemporary architecture, urbanism, and cultural analysis, based in the Netherlands. He heads the work of both OMA and AMO, the conceptual branch of OMA focused design and research. Rem Koolhaas is a professor at Harvard University, USA.  Koolhaas was awarded the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize for the year 2000.

Anoushka Hempel - Designer Of The Week August 2007 - 2nd Week

Born in New Zealand, Anoushka Hempel studied at Sutherland High School.  She moved to the United Kingdom in 1962 where she became an actress before turning to a designer.
She founded Anoushka Hempel Design, London-based international design studio, which is dedicated to architecture, interiors, landscape, products and graphic design. 
Her work includes the creation of 4 significant hotels, residential, restaurants designs as well as commercial projects in over 10 countries.
Anoushka is now a hotelier and designer of global repute, and is ranked by Architectural Design (2002) as one of the top 100 interior designers and architects in the world.
