Marko Macura - Designer Of The Week August 2007 - 4th Week

Marko Macura was born in Belgrade, Serbia in 1971.  He began his under graduate studies at the Rhode Island school of design in New York.  His education continued at the Art Center college of Design in Switzerland.   Upon completion with honors, Marko moved to The Netherlands, where he began his professional activities at Philips Design.  In 2002, Marko established his studio in The Netherlands, `Marko Macura Design`.  The studio focuses on creative design solutions for the furniture and lighting industries as well as interior and consumer electronic design.   His mission is to create ideas and objects, which are inspired by a constant reflection on our lives and lifestyles. 
Marco obtained various awards such as the IF award, Goed Industrial Ontwerp award, and the Australian Design Award

Renzo Piano - Architect Of The Week August 2007 - 4th Week

Italian Architect Renzo Piano was born in Genoa in 1937. He graduated in 1964 from the school if Architecture of the Milan Polytechnic. In 1971 he founded the firm Piano & Rogers with Richard Rogers, and then L`atelier Piano & Rice with engineer Peter Rice. In 1989 he established the Renzo Piano Building Workshop, with offices in Paris and Genoa. Piano`s principal work includes more than 40 world-famous projects such as museums, galleries, churches, music parks, institutes and national centers, shopping centers, bridges, reconstructions of squares and airports. Piano`s awards include the R.I.B.A. Golden Medal, the 1990 Kyoto Prize, and the 1998 prestigious Pritzker Prize for Architecture.

Genova Old Harbour

In the urban restoration in the old port of Genova, by Piano, new buildings have been added alongside pre-existing restored buildings.  Most recent structure is the Bolla, a 20 meter diameter crystal sphere, housing the largest collection of ferns in the world.

Javier Mariscal - Designer Of The Week August 2007 - 3rd Week

Spanish artist and designer Javier Mariscal was born in valencia in 1950. He moved to Barcelona in 1970 where he studied graphic design at the Elisava School of Design.  He opened the Estudio Mariscal, based in Barcelona.
His imagination and unique style comes to life in comics, multimedia, Graphic design, furniture design, textile design, painting, sculpture, interior design, urban landscape and garden design, all to form a part of his professional activity.
He has received various prizes; most notable is the National Prize for Design, which he was awarded in 1999.

Calle 54 Club

The concept of integral design (corporate image, interior design, furnishing elements, graphic panels, crockery, and merchandising) of Calle 54 club is designed by Javier Mariscal.  The outstanding place was created based on the spirit that gives life to Latin Jazz.
